How We Load Our Toys in a Keystone RV Fuzion Toyhauler
Loading toys in the back of your toyhauler might seem a little intimidating at first, but trust us, it’s not as hard as it looks. We’ve been doing this for a while, and with a bit of practice, you’ll get the hang of it too. Here’s how we do it in our Keystone Fuzion 369.
1. Getting the Rig Ready
First things first—make sure your rig is good to go. We always prefer to load our toys while the trailer is hooked up to the tow rig if we can. It just feels a lot more stable. But if you can’t hook it up, no worries—just make sure to chock your wheels really well. Clear out the area where you plan to load and make sure there’s plenty of space to maneuver.
2. Slow and Steady Is Key
When you’re ready to load, take it slow and steady. We line up with the garage and drive up the ramp nice and easy. We’ve learned that rushing is when mistakes happen. The same goes for unloading—back out slowly and don’t rush it. If you’ve got a buddy to spot you, that’s awesome, but make sure they stay out of the way of whatever you’re unloading.
3. Securing the Toys
Once we’ve got our toy in the garage, it’s all about strapping it down right. For example, we load a 950-pound motorcycle. We use a wheel chock for the front tire and then secure it with four ratchet straps. We always strap to solid parts of the frame and make sure the straps pull against each other to keep everything tight. The Fuzion 369 has tons of tie-down points, so finding the right spots is easy. If you’re loading something bigger, like a side-by-side, there are plenty of places to secure it down.
4. Keeping the Garage Organized
As for the other stuff in the garage, we usually just place it on the ground. We haven’t had much trouble with things shifting during travel, but it’s always a good idea to double-check that everything’s stable before hitting the road.
5. Distributing the Weight
One thing we always keep in mind is the weight distribution. You want to make sure you’re loading evenly and staying within the garage’s load capacity. If you think you might be pushing the limit, move some items to the front of the RV to balance things out. And whatever you do, don’t overload your trailer—that’s a recipe for trouble.
Final Thoughts
Once you’ve gone through the loading process a few times, you’ll find your rhythm, and it’ll all feel like second nature. The key is to take it slow, be careful, and enjoy the ride. Before you know it, you’ll be a pro at loading and unloading your toys. For additional guidance, be sure to consult the Keystone RV Owner’s Manual for the Fuzion 369. The manual offers essential details on weight limits, tie-down points, and best practices for keeping your trailer stable and secure. Adhering to these guidelines ensures a safe, smooth, and trouble-free travel experience.
